Childbirth Education

A Different Approach to Childbirth Education
We offer you flexibility and control over your childbirth education classes. You may take the classes as a full package, mix and match according to your schedule, time and interests, or simply take any one class as a stand-alone, supplement to other classes, or as a refresher. You do not need to take the classes in any particular order.  Workshops are offered on an ongoing basis for your convenience in planning for the arrival of your baby.  In studio privates and small-group sessions are available on a limited basis.

Essentials for a More Easeful Birth -
Part 1

This workshop covers all the basics that you and your partner need to know in preparation for labor and is useful in hospital, birth center and home birth environments.  You will learn the signs of labor, milestones of the birthing process, options to consider, steps to take now in preparation for birth, and key issues to discuss with your doctor or midwife. You will practice proven comfort measures for managing contractions and, most importantly: how to access the power of these techniques (the missing component in many childbirth classes). This workshop provides a holistic perspective on birthing needed for those seeking a natural birth.  However, the information gained in this class is also necessary and invaluable for those who need, or choose an epidural. Partners who take this workshop feel more empowered and learn proven labor support methods in order to participate more fully in this sacred event. Moms-to-be feel more confident and prepared for the journey of birth.

The information and techniques you gain in this workshop is derived from yogic techniques and many years honing what works best in support of laboring couples. This material is not covered in hospital-based classes.

For couples 25+ weeks. Dress comfortably and bring a snack and water.

NOTE: This class may be taken as a stand-alone. For those who want more information regarding common labor and delivery procedures, Part 2 is recommended.

This class covers: induction, EFM, epidural, assisted delivery, cesarean birth and more.

You will also learn about immediate newborn procedures, newborn appearance and what to expect in those first few hours with your baby.

Baby Preparation Workshops

Breastfeeding Basics & What to Expect in the First Six Weeks

The first six weeks with baby are often challenging but also quite magical as you begin to bond and settle in with your new family. During this time there are many adjustments and changes in body, mind and lifestyle, and at times it can feel daunting.

This workshop will help you to navigate these changes and what you can expect during the first six weeks with your newborn as well as the importance of self-care. You will also learn how to get started with breastfeeding, the specifics of positioning, latch and how to troubleshoot common breastfeeding issues. Most importantly, this workshop will dispel common misconceptions about breastfeeding (and all those stories you’ve heard), and help you to feel more confident in your ability to nourish your baby.

Don't wait until your baby is born to begin learning! This class is for pregnant women. We recommend that partners also attend (as they will learn about how to help you), but it is not required. This class is recommended for those 28+ weeks. Dress comfortably and bring a snack and water.
