Craniosacral therapy is a light, hands-on healing modality that helps to release tension, pain, blockages, and trauma stored in the body, mind, and/or spirit. The craniosacral system is a natural physiological one with a rhythm of its own, much like that of the heart and the respiratory system, and Maureen connects to this rhythm using gentle touch throughout the body. This process of sensing the craniosacral rhythm often engenders a state of deep relaxation, which in turn promotes the body’s innate healing response. SER is an approach that can help to process and integrate the memories, emotions, and insights that may arise spontaneously during a session and involves the use of dialogue, sound, and/or visualization with a client.

Maureen received advanced training in craniosacral therapy with Dr. Ron Wish of the Great River Craniosacral Therapy Institute in Nyack, NY, where she earned a certificate in craniosacral therapy (CST) and somatoemotional release (SER). Maureen furthered her CST studies by training in dynamic body balancing and myofascial unwinding with Dr. Carol Phillips of Annapolis, MD, whose CST and chiropractic work focuses on pregnant women and children. She also has a certificate in expressive arts therapy from the Person-Centered Expressive Arts Therapy Institute in California, an institute that pioneered the work of Dr. Natalie Rogers, daughter of renowned humanist psychologist Dr. Carl Rogers. Currently, Maureen is learning acupressure and has completed Level 1 training in Reiki. In fall 2017, she will assist Dr. Ron Wish in his training. She is grateful to all her teachers for their expertise, wisdom, and guidance.
Maureen works on people of all ages, including seniors, children, teens, and pregnant women, and is drawn to those undergoing stuck or challenging situations which incur loss, change, and/or grief, as such experiences can effect profound transformation in an individual’s life.
