Kelly Devi Swails, E-RYT, RPYT, CCCE, CLC, MA has actively taught yoga since 2005 and has certifications in hatha, prenatal, postnatal, restorative and yin yoga. Kelly currently teaches all these forms of yoga, with a speciality in prenatal and women’s yoga. In addition to teaching yoga, Kelly is a certified childbirth educator, birth doula and lactation counselor. Her extensive work with women and babies in yoga studios and birthing rooms has powerfully influenced her approach to teaching yoga for both women and men of all ages. Kelly also weaves her passion for Vedic astrology and shamanic studies into her classes and workshops. Her students are often inspired by the depth of knowledge, insight and expanded perspective she brings to her teaching.
Kelly has a Master's Degree in Medical Anthropology and Geography and spent many years as a social services program administrator and staff development trainer. This diverse background provides a strong influence on the curriculum for this teacher training and adds a unique perspective for participants in understanding the science of yoga and methods for yoga instruction.
Attendance & Make Up Hour Policy
Trainees are expected to be on time for classes and may not miss more than 3 sessions during the course of the training. If absence is inevitable, it is the trainee's responsibility to make arrangements to get notes and other missed information. To maintain the integrity of this training and to ensure quality graduates, the attendance and make-up hour policy is firm. Please consider your time and availability carefully before committing to this program.
All You Can Yoga provides a refund of the initial deposit or tuition payment (minus a $50 processing fee) for any accepted applicants who need to withdraw two weeks, or more, prior to start of training. After that point, there is no refund of deposit.
Who Should Take This Course?
Individuals who want to become certified yoga teachers.
Individuals who don’t wish to teach yoga but want to take a transformative, life-changing journey to deepen their personal practice and knowledge.
Ideal candidates for this training:
- Feel passionate and enthusiastic about yoga.
- Have a desire to dive into the deeper meanings and practices of yoga.
-Want to learn more than the basic “gym yoga” format.
- Self-motivated and ready to undertake an intensive study of yoga.
- Have at least 6 months of practice experience.
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively teach asana, pranayama and basic meditation. But it doesn’t stop there. This is a comprehensive program that dives into the full range of yoga practice including its ancient traditions and spirituality.
During this course, you will explore cultural, philosophical, scientific, cosmological and mythological roots of yoga and gain insight into the origins and deeper meanings behind yogic practices. This course is designed as a yoga lab where you will experience the four paths of yoga, develop a personal sadhana practice, consider philosophical concepts in your day to day life, and participate in discussions that encourage mindful reflection on yogic observances. The goal of this multi-layered training experience is to enrich, inform, and inspire your teaching and personal practice for years to come. Knowledge gained in this training will distinguish you among yoga teachers, and can lead to many unexpected and exciting new adventures.
This course covers:
- How to confidently and safely teach a well-rounded, informed yoga class
- The 4 instruction principles every yoga teacher needs to know
- Methodologies for teaching: logistics, group dynamics, time management, propping, assisting, sequencing, lesson planning, etc.
- Pranayama and meditation
- Yoga etiquette
- The business of teaching yoga
- Ethics for yoga teachers
- Anatomy and physiology for yoga (including comprehensive review of subtle anatomy)
- Special topic workshops with expert guest speakers
- Experiential approach to the four paths of yoga
- Sanskrit basics (the key to the essence of yoga)
- Ongoing yoga philosophy and Vedic literature discussions
- The metaphysics of yoga
- The meaning, magic and joy of mantra
- How and why mudra is incorporated into a yoga practice
- Ayurvedic principles
- Yogic lifestyle & diet
Beyond in-class sessions, exams and practicum, students are required to complete independent reading, homework assignments, a small class project, attendance in asana classes and short daily meditation. Successful participants are self-motivated and engaged in consistent active learning (both independently and in group discussions/practice).
The last in-class session is February 12, however trainees are scheduled for individual evaluations between February 15 and February 28, 2019. Students should plan some availability within this timeframe as well.
Once accepted into the program, applicants will receive instruction for their first homework assignment.

Training manuals and supplemental materials are included with your tuition. In addition, there are five required books for the course. The total cost of all your books is approximately $95. (Note: Your actual cost may be lower depending on which elective book you choose and whether you choose digital format.)
Step 1: Complete the online application on All You Can Yoga website (link below).
Step 2: Once you submit your application, do not make any payments until you are contacted for your acceptance interview appointment within 1-5 days.
Step 3: After you are accepted into the program a deposit payment of $400 is due if you are selecting the 4-month payment plan, OR you may select to pay in full at this time.
