Yin Yoga is a balancing practice that is complimentary to more yang styles of yoga. This mind/body practice targets the connective tissue, meridians and organs of the body which provides an opportunity for the release of deeper energetic blockages. A Yin class involves fewer poses that are held for longer lengths of time. Yin Yoga is not the same as restorative yoga. While it can be gentle, it is often described as "sensational". Students are instructed in how to personalize their practice to the appropriate level of intensity.
Please note: Like all yoga practices, if the tissues you are targeting are damaged in some way, please give yourself a chance to heal before resuming your regular practice.
